Partnerships matter: Bringing back effectiveness and ethics in civic work - أهمية الشراكات: فعالية وأخلاقيات العمل المدني

In this context, this workshop seeks, on the one hand, to place the localisation debate in a longer temporality of global discussions that have shaped international cooperation during the past decades. These discussions mainly aimed at bringing back on the agenda a people’s centred approach to development. Globally, milestones included the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness in 2005, with donors and governments commitments to focus on the principle of “country ownership,” the Accra Agenda for Action in 2008, which addressed “predictability of Aid”, developing the “country systems” and making conditionality aligned with the country’s own objectives. Another CSO milestone in this process is the Istanbul Principles in 2010 which constitute a statement of common values and approaches to guide CSO work, from service delivery to policy advocacy, and from humanitarian emergencies to long-term development.
