Small & Medium Enterprises Review

Executive Summary
One thousand five hundred and twelve micro, small and medium enterprises, existing in Nahr El-Barid (NBC) prior to 2007, had been damaged or destroyed in the aftermath of the 2007 conflict. The displacement of NBC refugees, the destruction of the Old Camp including many of the business premises, compounded by the subsequent loss of Lebanese customer-base, posed a considerable challenge to the re-establishment of these SMEs, which constituted the backbone of the NBC economy and the main source of income for many of these refugees.
