The Nahr el Bared Emergency & Recovery Information System is an online platform aiming at consolidating and centralizing all resources and information regarding aid provision to the Nahr el Bared's affected population in North Lebanon. The platform has a multi-layer categorization system, that allows ease of access and is customized to help the users locate information they need in an efficient manner.

1) Reconstruction:During the recent good weather, the pace of the reconstruction work has picked up. Columns began to rise and concrete was poured in new sections in Package One. There is also progress in the backfilling and compacting works in preparation for more concrete in Package One. The community will see more progress if the good weather continues

This week, the pouring of the first 40cm of raft commenced. Though the weather conditions have impacted the progress of back filling works, related tests and foundation works, the ommunity should be assured that there are no major delays foreseen in the time lines of handing the houses to their owners in Package One.

1) Reconstruction:
At 08:15 on Wednesday morning November 25, the gates of Taounieh checkpoint were opened to let some seventy members of the NBC community and UNRWA staff walk up to the wooden concrete forms in Package

1. On this blustery but sunny November day, two sacrificial sheep were led to the area in celebration of this unprecedented moment. By half past nine the community members and UNRWA staff were visibly excited. As they watched the first cement truck approach women started chanting.

At 10:02 the concrete began to pour.

UNRWA Weekly NBC Updates (20-11-2009)

1) Reconstruction:Following the instructions of the PM in the end of October, UNRWA resumed back filling and flattening the surface of package-1 for the geo-physical survey that started on 16 Oct and ends on 20th Oct.On November 20, DGA will handover Package 1 to UNRWA

UNRWA signs an agreement with WA and Cayan company to reconstruct the first school in Nahr el Bared

The Welfare Association signed in Beirut on 17 November 2009, a memorandum of understanding with Cayan company for Investment and Real Estate Development and UNRWA, by which Cayan company donates 1.6 million USD for the reconstruction of a school in Nahr el Bared camp. Welfare Association will be managing the funds of the project, while UNRWA will provide the land for the implementation of the project by Cayan company.

1) Reconstruction:
On the afternoon of Tuesday November 3, UNRWA met with Prime Minister Siniora to discuss the NBC reconstruction file. During the meeting, PM Siniora firmly reiterated his commitment to reconstruction stressing the importance for the works to start moving quickly.

1) Reconstruction:
With the original suspension period coming to an end, UNRWA wrote the Government of Lebanon on October 19 requesting information on the way forward. On October 22, the Lebanese Government told UNRWA the Shura Council did not issue a decision to extend the suspension of backfilling. The agency, in accordance to Lebanese Law and in compliance with the decision of the Council of Ministers, could proceed with backfilling,
they said.
